True, but also just the other week I heard a Gen Z podcaster talk about how they were moving to text threads vs social media as a more personal way to connect with friends - and also to plan IN PERSON fun. As a mid-40's person with growing kids, we don't keep up with our friends. It seems like friends are something young and old people have, but not 40-somethings. We have work and homework and dinnertime and bedtime and extra-curriculars, and exhaustion. And then housework on the weekend. I challenged myself to adopt text threads with some old friends again. I'm not doing great, but it is nice to remember I have people. And just say hi, and share thoughts that are not related to our kids. You know what is more exhausting than What'sApp?? The 129 apps the school wants you to use to keep up with the teacher messages and the kids' homework and grades. I am sure the teachers think I am an absent or uncaring parent, but honestly I just wilt inside a little when I think of the Talking Points App. Do they know my 3 kids have between them 20 teachers and another 5-7 administrators and they all sent me multiple requests for random stuff today? What do they think of me when I don't even read the message about my daughter's commitment to bring green cupcakes to Spanish class until the week later?
