I’m at the cinema watching The World Burn
It’s a dystopian horror and it’s based on a true story.
Fires rage, society descends into madness. Public discourse and dialogue break down. Robots are everywhere. Faceless tech overlords dictate and control. Mass AI adoption creates mass unemployment.
The protagonist is building an AI startup and is starting a podcast, I’m not sure how he’s going to save the day? But I don’t want to get to the end. I know where this is going.
I’m outraged, I’m scared. This isn’t a film. It’s a documentary. Some parts look like a live stream.
It dawns. This is real. I can hear Elon Musk and Trump talking loudly at back. Did Joe Rogan just laugh as somebody threw some popcorn, did he throw it? Love Island influencers are leaning back, canoodling in the comfy seats at the front.
I try to shout and scream - I want to get the people around me to realise that this is real.
“This is what’s happening now!” “Don’t you see!”
Nobody can hear me, sounds aren’t coming out of my mouth.
