#237: The Voice
The voice is quiet
The voice whispers
The voice calls in the distance.
The voice speaks in the shower
On walks, like a sound carried by the wind.
The voice screams in the middle of the night
The voice get’s drowned out, by thoughts, by worries by real life
The voice dreams, the voice wonders, the voice longs for.
The voice is inside, in the gut, from the heart, it echoes from a cavern buried deep in the chest.
The voice is intuition, spirit, knowing.
The voice doesn’t make sense.
The voice isn’t logic.
“Go here" "Call them" "Do that thing”
“What?! That thing?!”
“Yes” the Voice says “That thing”
The voice speaks louder in writing, in meditation, in nature, in yoga, with good people, when asked to speak, when invited in.
The voice is frightening, the voice is unknown, uncertain, undiscovered.
The voice is new.
The voice is untapped.
The voice is potential.
The voice is growth.
——
I’m scared of my voice.
The quiet voice inside me that tells me to do things that scare me.
The voice that calls me into unknown places.
Some people ignore their voice, most people don’t even listen.
My problem is, when I hear the voice, I have to act, I spend time listening and I’m too curious not to go where the voice leads.
The voice told me to leave my dream role in the dream startup I founded.
The voice told me to travel, to get lost.
The voice brought me back to the last place on earth I imagined I would be.
The voice is taking me to places I don’t understand, into woodland, into forests, into nature.
The voice keeps telling me to write a fiction book. The voice tells me to write it without thought or worry.
The voice says write the best book you can and hope for the best.
This I say back to the voice is madness, is higher risk than anything I’ve ever done.
This I say to the voice frightens me deeply.
The voice just continues to call, over and over again; write, write, write.
A sound that travels through my body like thunder, like the vibration of a drum.
Write, write, write.
What is your voice saying?
