#228: The point is
Last week I wrote 'What's the point'
I was airing that feeling I, and many others have, where we question the meaning life, where we let the weight of the world lay heavy on us.
Where we ask big questions, we ask "why?", "why all this?" We throw our arms in the air and say "what IS the point?!"
When the news, 'life', makes us tired, makes us all wonder whether it really is worth it. When we feel hopeless, helpless, powerless, pointless.
I felt relieved to remind myself that I'm not weird for asking these questions. I'm human and I'm not alone in asking them, nor are you.
Today, I'm writing to find what I've been looking for.
To find the point.
-------------
The point is
to make a difference
to contribute
to raise others up
to help
to be sustainable
to steward the planet
The point is
bare feet on wet grass
the eek of a cold shower
steam curling from a cup of coffee
awe at a mountain
being wet from the rain
climbing into bed when tired
a cuddle on the sofa.
The point is
we are so lucky to be alive.
it makes no sense that we are here, now.
we will never know why we are here.
The point is
we don’t know why we are here, that’s why it’s so amazing that we are here.
The point is
magical, mystical, spiritual.
The point is that when we keep asking why, we will always end up in the unknown.
The point is to be here, to be here now, to live well, to live fully, to live with love, with heart, with compassion.
The point is
to look after ourselves
to help others
to give
to be good
to be kind
to have hope.
The point is
to see how beautiful the world is
to help to keep it that way.
The point is
smiling at a stranger
the sound of the birds
a good hug
a hard earned drink
a well-deserved clink of glasses.
The point is
to witness suffering, anger and pain
to see injustice
to fight against it
to do our bit, wherever we can
The point is
find our own point
find our own meaning.
The point is
not to do it on our own
to connect
to find our tribe
to find our place in the world.
The point is
our humanity
our ancestors
the humans that made our life possible
The point is to be grateful for the life we have
The point is that I don’t know the point of IT ALL and I never will.
The point is that life is so magical and so precious, we must protect it, savour it, enjoy it and hope to give everyone the same privileges of such a wonderful life.
The point is that this is my response to that feeling of what’s the point that I had only last week.
The point is that everyone has to find their point.
I'm finding mine.
