#215: Just writing
Today I am just going to write.
It's scary to just write. I don't know what I'll write about.
What I'll say, whether it will be good or bad or dull.
Today, I'm just writing.
It's always easier to have a topic and about that particular thing.
To think about it, plan it out, to know what I'm going to say in advance.
The reason I love to write is because it reminds me of life, of entrepreneurship and creativity.
I'm writing my life. I'm not truly sure what I am writing. A novel, sequel to Sanctus, short story, a new book altogether ?
I don't know. I'm just writing.
I'm meeting people, having coffee, doing work that interests me, writing my book, helping out at Staffs Uni, trail running.
Just writing, just being, flowing through life and trying not to spend too much time working out what it all means.
What I know now is that this is the life of a creator, someone at the edges or on the edge of building new things and breaking new ground.
Mary Oliver, a poet I admire describes this well; you wouldn't want the pilot of your plane to live their life like a creator.
I wouldn't want the pilot to come on the tannoy and admit they don't know what what they're doing or know where they're heading or that they've never flown a plane before.
The role of a creator is to be in the unknown. To write. To paint. To make music. To do their craft without knowing where it will lead or, at times, what their craft is.
I'm just writing at the moment. Not sure what, just more sure of what I don't want to write about.
Cheers,
James x
