#171: I'd love to meet
Hey Everyone,
On 7th October, from 1pm -7pm I’ll be at Hurlingham Books, Putney Bridge.
I’ll be signing some books and chatting to anyone who comes down. If you fancy coming along, you can let me know you're coming here.
I’d love to meet you. You don’t have to buy a book, or get one signed. I’d like to use this as an opportunity to connect with people. It's been a while.
Many of you on this newsletter I’ve chatted to countless times but never met, I know not everyone is in London or even the UK, yet if you are this could be a chance to put a face to a name for both of us.
One thing I can guarantee is that if you love books, you’ll love Hurlingham Books.
Ray is the 76 year old owner who’s full of passion, energy and has an encyclopaedic knowledge of where every book is in the chaos of his wonderful bookshop that is literally overflowing with books.
Ray has a warehouse down the road with TWO MILLION books in it. He has first editions, rare gems and lots of classics. You’ll find books here you’ve never heard of. (I’ve sneakily snuck one of mine in the window alongside legendary Authors like Vonnegut, Le Carre and Ishiguro).
So, if you’re in the area, nearby, or would like to say hi I’d love to meet you.
I have no idea if anyone will come and I’m still getting used to the whole concept of signing books. If you do want one signed, I will have a limited number to sell on the day, but the best way is to bring one along that you've pre-ordered/ordered online.
It’s about the book, but it’s more about meeting people, saying hello, saying thank you and connecting. It’d be awesome for me to see people who read this in the flesh and get to understand what you might value me writing more about and getting a sense of who you are.
I’ll be there most of the day and there’s a pub next door called the Eight Bells which will open it’s doors to us plus a coffee shop round the corner. You’re a moments walk from the River, Putney Boathouses and Bishops Park/Fulham Palace - there’s plenty to do if you want to stay in the area.
I’ve made this Eventbrite for you to sign up to if you want to come so I can get a sense of who’s coming and can message in advance.
I hope to meet some of you, if not this time, then another.
Cheers,
James x
