I’m James.

When I write, stuff happens and I love to write.

In 2016 I began writing about mental health and five years later, in the blink of an eye, I’d played my part in changing mental health culture in the UK. I built a business, created a community, brand, podcast, coaching product that supports tens of thousands of people and wrote a book on mental health at work with Penguin.

Then, I began writing about Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, and Regional Development. Pop. I wrote an MSc Entrepreneurship that launched 100 businesses, built a global community for people Made in Stoke and started a new regional media outlet.

I’m currently writing about mental health, men, masculinity, grief and baby loss. Pop? I’m not sure yet.

When I write, stuff happens and I’m going to keep writing.

This is my writing.

How it works

When you subscribe on Substack, you’ll receive 1 newsletter per week month. I won’t spam you and I won’t sell to you. If i’m writing a book or creating a brand, I might tell you about those.

This will be unlike most newsletters you receive. I write with vulnerability and honesty, I share my story, live, as it happens. Not after the fact with a bow on it.

If you want more of my writing, you can upgrade to paid for £8 a month, you’ll receive one additional newsletter per week. This will be a coaching inquiry, a book review, a piece of poetry or another more raw and unfiltered piece of writing that I want to share with my most loyal readers.

I hope that when you read my writing it slows you down and creates a moment for you to stop and pause. I hope I say what you’ve been feeling, or thinking but couldn’t put words to. I hope you feel seen and heard. I hope you know I’m out there looking for you.

Cheers,

James x
